Allele-Specific Expression Analysis
It has been known that allele specific expression one of the two parental alleles is associated with epigenetic phenomena of X-chromosome inactivation and genomic imprinting. Allele specific differences in gene expression are also found in non-imprinted autosomal genes. A well established method of Quantifying allele-specific expression uses a transcribed SNP to distinguish betweens alleles in cells that are heterozygous. Pyrosequencing technology is an ideal method for identifying heterozygous SNPs and quantifying alleles in transcripts in different cells and tissues.
Applications:
- Systematic screening for imprinted genes.
- Quantification of allele-specific transcripts in different cells and tissues.
