CpG Methylation Analysis
DNA methylation refers to the covalent addition of a methyl group to the 5-carbon of cytosine in a CpG dinucleotide. It is an epigenetic event that affects cell function by altering gene expression. Methods for DNA methylation analysis can be divided into two categories: global and gene-specific methylation analysis.
Bisulfite Pyrosequencing is a sequencing-based analysis of DNA methylation that quantitatively measures multiple, consecutive CpG sites individually with high accuracy and reproducibility. We offer DNA methylation services for both global and gene-specific methylation analysis using Pyrosequencing technology. Gene Specific DNA Methylation Analysis:
- P16 Methylation Assay: We use PyroMark RUO kit or home brew methylation for analyzing epigenetic changes in the p16(CDKN2A) promoter.
- MGMT Methylation Assay: We have assays to analyze MGMT promoter and MGMT exon 1. To analyze MGMT promoter regions, we use Biotage's PyroMark MGMT RUO kit and in-house developed assays to cover 28 CpG sites.
Assay for MGMT exon 1 covers 5 CpG sites.
